(LONG POST) QUESTION from someone who knows nothing about vegetarian or vegan: I am a carnivore. And by this I mean that I am on a meat only diet, no, veggies or fruits, absolutely no sugar (carbs), or juices of any type. I complement with loads of supplements to avoid crashing for lack of nutrients. I have been doing it for 3 years with some breaks in between. I lost 55 pounds, I've been working out ( weights ) for 21 years and at 38 years old I reached my dream physical condition and appearance. 6 ft tall, 180 pounds ,8-9 % body fat and an 8-pack not even a six pack but and 8 pack. I obviously had my daily calories in check (2300-2500) and worked out 7 days a week, alternating between cardio and weights. I worked really hard to achieve this at my age! I know my diet is not healthy, although my glucose was 80 in my last lab tests the doctor did, my cholesterol was below average too! Both of them. Can I keep my fitness with a vegetarian diet? Are my muscles going to get soft? Will My stamina at the gym decrease? I am one of those guys who is obsessed with fitness, I hope someone here can relate and understand me. I get fat very fast when I eat carbs and that is a concern for me. I really want to switch my diet because I know I can't keep carnivore going the rest of my life. Thank you for taking the time to read, sorry for the long post but I really do not know anything about this subject.

"You're a phenomenon" No dear, nothing is in question. It's just societal programming that's made us believe the fallacy of meat and dairy being healthy. When you remove both of them you become more healthy as a result, it's a provable fact.

Heme iron is not what you want. Nonheme iron is and you can get everything you need in abundance from a whole food plant-based diet.

      4 dögum síðan

@Charlie Morrison OK so you said a lot of bull and I can't debunk all of it, but I can debunk some of it. Our digestive track isn't that of a herbivore. For one we only have one stomach where as herbivores tend to have 3 or 4 (these are also called ruminants with herbivores). Also I said humans can't digest cellulose, not that we should not eat cellulose. I also find your history a bit weird. If people didn't eat a lot of meat before 150 years ago, what exactly did they eat during the winter when it is impossible to farm and harvest. And no we can't get all of our nutrients from the available plant foods. Not to mention that plants contain anti nutrients which means getting your nutrients from plants might be difficult especially in areas like scandanavia. Also why would our body attack proteins and iron from animal sources? It has no reason to, and also how does it distinguish the protein from animals compared to the proteins from plants? And that what you said about oxidation. So what molecule in protein causes this oxidation. And the things that healed you most isn't that you cut out meat, it's that you lost weight. And where did I say you aren't getting enough iron on a plant based diet. I just said iron is less bio available. And I must say I find it wierd that you accuse me of having bad source and then provide a source that itself is bad. The irony is nearly tangible.

@Dewaldt The carnivore diet is landing people in the hospital. It seems to benefit th hem in the very beginning because they are eliminating processed foods, but as time goes on they are overworking their pancreas and flooding the cardiovascular system with high fats and animal proteins that are doing serious harm to their body.

    • Charlie Morrison

      Charlie Morrison

      4 dögum síðan

@Dewaldt Our long digestive tract is exactly the correct proportions for a herbivore. We do need fiber and lots of it. You know that thing you call cellulose? Cellulose has a variety of benefits for us, as where the saturated fats in meat cause us serious health concerns. Heme iron is also extremely bad for us. We are not physiologically evolved to eat meat. Small amounts of meat can be easily dealt with in our diets but in the past 150 years or so, who in the west has consumed a few ounces every few days or so? We as a society in the west and many other parts of the world have consumed many times over that amount a day. We are told to check our colon and prostate cancer levels and we are told to get our cholesterol levels checked. Then there is Rheumatoid arthritis and MS and most of our modern day diseases are all caused by consuming animals. Without consuming the flesh of others, there is no need to check or worry about any of these things. We get all the nutrients, especially iron, from plants. There was a time when I thought this train of thought would be crazy shit, but it's all true. Our bodies attack the iron and proteins of animals like foreign invaders. Like a virus and it causes a lot of oxidation and inflammation in our bodies. Oxidation and the wearing down of our telomeres is what causes cancer. Our telomeres are like caps that are on the ends of our chromosomes and when those wear down our DNA trays causing them to fall apart and mutate into cancer cells. When there are too many of these and our killer cells cannot keep up with the production of cancerous cells, they clump together and cause tumors. I have studied this stuff for years as well as the nutritional benefits of food on our bodies and the way Food-like products harm our bodies. As a former diabetic of 21 plus years and a man the used to be obese and suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol and eczema and depression and anxiety and high degrees of pain from hip dysplasia I can tell you that the elimination of animal products from my diet has helped in my body healing from all of these issues except for the hip dysplasia which I was born with. I can walk again and I have gone without any animal products for almost 9 years now. All of my nutritional levels in my blood are perfect. Cholesterol and inflammation are a thing in the past and will never be an issue again. My iron is much higher than it ever was as an omnivorous person. These same results have been documented in other plant-based dieters. As long as one eats plenty of food there are no deficiencies anywhere. The thought that iron needs to come from an animal is made of old lies that have stemmed from the animal agriculture system. The USDA, and the American Medical Association have lying to us about everything about our food. Check out nutritionfacts.org or look up Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, or Dr. Kim Williams, Dr Colin Campbell, and so many others.

    • Dewaldt

      Dewaldt

@Charlie Morrison so if we are made of heme iron, how is the heme iron in animals causing cancer. Also humans are omnivores. We don't have cellulases or cellulosic symbionts and our our digestive track is way to short to be herbivores. As for your other argument. There are people on the carnivore diet who make the exact same claims.

It’s not only the nutrient content of the food but what your body can assimilate. All the good food in the world won’t matter if your body is unable to break it down and use it and utilize it. It’s so important to get fermented foods and pre-biotics and probiotics and enzymes into your diet to help with gut health.
Get rid of all baked goods vegan or not, sugar and any processed food. Your body will thank you!

      EXplore With PARIKSHIT

@Stubbari This is a very straightforward thing. If one thing is available a few metres away from your home and for the other you have to order online or buy from somewhere else, what would you do ? This is not a debate against veganism, this is a simple societal structure where veganism as a way of life will be very difficult to penetrate.

    • Stubbari

      Stubbari

      13 dögum síðan

    • EXplore With PARIKSHIT

      EXplore With PARIKSHIT

      13 dögum síðan

@Stubbari The need to drink it is a different debate altogether but speaking practically I see no practical method how people in my country will shift from animal milk to plant based milk. For example in our house our daily consumption is half litres for tea and making sweet dish. We buy that milk from our neighbors whereas if we are to buy vegan milk I"ll have to order it online. Only high end stores have vegan options which are based in cities. Plus they are too expansive for a normal household to buy on a regular basis

    • Stubbari

      Stubbari

      13 dögum síðan

@EXplore With PARIKSHIT Surely if people switched from cow milk to soy milk (for example) the prices of soy milk would go down. But then again, why would we need to drink milk in the first place?

While I certaintly respect anyone's decision to eat Vegan, not enough people are talking about the quality of food they are eating. Before you went vegan, what was your diet like? Did the vegan diet change your health because you simply started to eat more healthy foods? Food these days is scary, the meat industry is scary, vegetables at many groceries are completely devoid of of nutrients because of the soil, or maybe the vegetables aren't even properly ripened therefore we don't get the proper nutrients. How do we distinguish weather it's veganism, portion control or just simply knowing what is healthy and right for your body?

@EPH 33 no, if a company shows misconduct while creating a vaccine, that company is liable to a lawsuit. Companies who make vaccines are given certain protections, because anti vaxxers will try to sue them for existing. Well the only easy way to get the identity of a reviewer is if the reviewer decides not to ne anonymous. Other than that you will have a hard time finding out who reviewed your study. If the journal gives away that information, it risk being boycotts from other scientists meaning they can't publish studies anymore.

@Dewaldt Ok, I agree... 1. Scientific method requires examining of all possible evidence ( You are refusing to even listen to the podcast I might add) 2. Pier review - Do you really think every scientist reviews things honestly? What happens if someone comes to the reviewers door with a loaded gun and a bag of $100k and says to the scientist - " You will write a good review on this antibiotic." What happens then? Do you think that Big Pharma doesn't do things like that? I don't expect you to believe me, and I wish you well on your journey. Thank you for your participation in this conversation.

@EPH 33 no there is something called the scientific method and pier review. These scientists don't just make up stuff. And I'm not listening to the podcast of a crazy person.

"Unbiased and credible sources" This is a political phrase that smells like cow poo. Who decides who or what is an unbiased and credible source. There is only one source, whether you believe it or not. Listen to your heart, get out of your head. Science is funded by non-scientists.
For example, let's say a cocaine dealer, like Tony Montana, becomes so rich with his money that he can actually buy out the government. Now, Tony wants to "clean" up his act. He doesn't want to sell cocaine anymore. He wants to sell something more legitimate, like, say Coffee. Now Tony needs to start a new coffee brand, so what does he do, he hires some scientists to do a study that proves his coffee is not only the best, but healthy for anyone who drinks it.
Now he gets a study published that says his coffee has more antioxidants than other coffees, but here's the thing, nearly everything that grows in the ground has antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
Cow dung has antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals... that doesn't mean you should eat (or drink) it
what's my point? The point is that any study can be skewed to show SOMETHING good within it's use.
Like cigarettes, I've smoked before, they're fun, but the "fun" does not outweigh the horrible side affects.
The problem really, is that people are addicted to coffee, they're addicted to meat, they're addicted to ice cream. They KNOW these foods are bad for them, but they believe that they cannot live without them.
Breaking an addiction is hard...it's a spiritual experience, but you can do it. It's not just about being VEGAN it's about knowing what foods can really support your health and what foods cannot. There are plenty of Vegans who are not eating the right foods and then they go running back to meat because they start getting symptoms and MOST doctors blame any VEGAN's symptoms on the fact that they are eating a plant based diet.
I have love and compassion for you, wherever you are in your healing journey.

That non vegan dude made up some nonsense talking about plug and play ready to be used animal based foods ....first off your body uses amino acid not protein so plant based protein is really just amino acids ...the body has to break the animal protein down into amino acid before it can be used

Today was my first day going vegan! The main problem for me is to find what to eat, I mean I bought mushroom burguers, seitan pasta, brown rice etc, but i mean, I'm afraid of not making the right calories by mainly eating carbs! I'll figure it out, see you guys in 1 month with updates :)

Good luck, keep encouraging yourself with videos like these! I have been on and off with vegetarianism for about a year and now I'm really committing to it. It's so important to keep up the passion and drive behind this diet, because so often our society and communities are quite unknowledgeable about it and may even be passive aggressive towards us. I also recommend the channel Earthling Ed ~ overall, keep going! I'm proud of you! :D

First of your videos I cannot support.
    Too many nutritional facts ignored.
B12, Vit A, Heme Iron, Vit B3, B6, K2, F, Taurine, Choline, Carnosine, Creatine, DHA, EPA, CLA, Arachadonic Acid, Cholesterol (for Vit D & Your sexual hormones - reason for.which many woman loose their period & men loose their morning boner), sooo many carbs necessary to sustain, it not really being vegan cause so many vegan food are dependant on animal.manures, they kill animals, like lettuce kills snails & slugs, animal habitat displacement.
I challenge you to go on a nose to tail carnivorous diet for a month. Ask Dr. Paul Saladino.
    Much Love, Karsten

As somone that isn't vegan and has not and will not go vegan this is a well put together video not biased and only speaking facts. I may not be the most healthy but I watch what I eat make sure the food I get is fresh and is 100% real no bullshit fillers. It helps to live near a farmtown so I can get meat year round that's fresh and I know doesn't have additives. along with supporting small farmers is always a plus. I could never go vegan though I grew up in a farm town and was in FFA for a 4 years and can't see the upsides to eating plants over meats. It's not cheaper, I'm not gonna feel better about myself small farmers keep there cattle free, I am not fat all though I am overweight but it's mostly muscle in my legs and I grew up eating meat I couldn't eat plants for my entire life. I might try just 1 week see what it's about though
